Don’t fancy lots of elaborate prep in the kitchen or venturing to an over-priced restaurant this Valentine’s Day? We don’t blame you. Instead, we're planning a romantic night in, enjoying a delicious, indulgent meal together, without the hassle.

Supermarkets have gone above and beyond this year, with meal deals featuring premium quality dishes that we’re confident you’ll fall in love with. With all the classics on offer, from prawn cocktail starters to sirloin steak with crispy fries, the Good Housekeeping Institute experts have worked their way through 52 products to bring you the very best dine-in deals on the market.

Read on for their detailed reviews, but here are their top picks at a glance.

Best Valentine’s dine-in deals for 2025

Most dine-in deals include a bottle of wine, or non-alcoholic alternative, to enjoy alongside your meal. However, if you’re buying items separately from the likes of Aldi or Lidl, you may want to splurge on something special to sip. We’ve also tested the best supermarket champagne  and  fizzy rosé, plus delicious  non-alcoholic wine  and non-alcoholic spirits if you’re looking for the perfect pairing. Get ready to toast to your best Valentine’s Day feast yet…

What to expect from a supermarket dine-in deal

All the meals we tried were designed for two people to share.

While most dine-in deals include a starter, main and dessert, some also add sides and an alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink into the mix. By opting for a deal rather than buying the elements individually, you will save money overall.

How we test Valentine’s Day meal deals

Our panel of experts sampled 52 dine-in dishes from the leading supermarkets (note that M&S declined to take part so doesn’t feature on our list below). Our panel was looking for restaurant-worthy, delicious meals that felt suitably indulgent. As well as each dish’s taste and texture, they assessed ease of prep and value for money.

Best Valentine’s dine-in meal deal

Waitrose Valentine's Meal Deal

UK Taste Approved(GH)
Valentine's Meal Deal

Score: 86/100

For the perfect romantic meal for two, head to Waitrose, where you’ll find a delicious three-course menu from the No.1 range.

Our testers started their meal with the individual prawn cocktail pots, which are generously filled with sweet shellfish in a rich, creamy dressing. For their main course, they tucked into sirloin steak with peppercorn butter, and thin, crispy frites for dunking. Our experts found the cooking times spot on (so you can be confident the meat will come out perfectly for your plus one). And with its creamy cheese sauce and crispy topping, the cauliflower and broccoli three cheese tray bake made a great pairing.

The elevated chocolate ‘You’re my No.1’ bars – two super rich slabs of dark chocolate ganache on a biscuit base – ended their meal on a high.

Testers also tried both the prosecco, and a non-alcoholic sparkling rosé alternative from Thomson & Scott, which they found equally refreshing.

We’re confident this meal deal will have you asking why you ever ate out...

Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Valentines Dine In

UK Taste Approved(GH)
Taste the Difference Valentines Dine In

Score: 81/100

This dine-in deal is an indulgent choice that thankfully doesn’t come with a price tag to match.

Like Waitrose (above), it kicks off with the retro prawn cocktail, but rather than following this up with a traditional steak, here you’ll find tender pork fillet medallions in an earthy black pepper and mushroom sauce, offering a tasty point of difference. Serve these with the hasselback potatoes in fiery pink peppercorn sauce, and finish with some cute milk chocolate and honeycomb bee slices.

Our testers really liked the drinks option here, preferring the sharing style bottle of pre-mixed G&T over individual cans, which they felt provided a lighter alternative to wine.

Aldi Specially Selected, priced individually

UK Taste Approved(GH)
Specially Selected, priced individually

Score: 80/100

Instead of following a set menu format with its Valentine’s Day selection, Aldi has highlighted a range of “Specially Selected” dishes you can choose from to curate your own dine-in experience.

And our testers were impressed by both the quality and the variety of its range this year, with classic flavours excellently executed.

You may choose to start with the generous tear and share bread, which centres around a whole oozing camembert, or there’s the champagne-spiked vintage cheddar cheese bake (just add crudites!).

For the main, it’s got to be a juicy sharing style rump steak, complete with truffled black pepper butter and garlic and herb crumb. Serve with the subtly flavoured truffle and parmesan fries on the side, while to finish, the glossy, geometric white chocolate hearts with a raspberry compote middle get our vote.

Lidl Deluxe Range, priced individually

UK Taste Approved(GH)
Deluxe Range, priced individually

Score: 80/100

Create the perfect dinner à deux by cherry-picking your faves from Lidl’s Deluxe range. The well-curated edit includes the likes of antipasti platters, bone-in sirloin steak and decadent cauliflower cheese. Other highlights include the soft, gooey sticky toffee pudding, which one tester thought tasted “as good as homemade”. Just add a generous glug of double cream for good measure.

To drink, the freshly squeezed lemonade is zippy enough to cut through the richness of the rest of your meal, making it a good choice for those not drinking.

Tesco Finest Valentines Dine In for Two

UK Taste Approved(GH)
Finest Valentines Dine In for Two

Score: 79/100

If you’re looking for classic, tasty dishes that don’t require much prep (leaving you more time to spend with your loved one), this is an excellent easy three-course option from Tesco. The individual chicken ballotines wrapped in bacon and stuffed with wild garlic and parmesan proved popular with our experts and have a similar vibe to chicken kyiv. Team with the trio of baby potatoes, carrots and tenderstem broccoli in garlic and herb dressing.

Returning for another year, the Coquilles St Jacques starter is full of meaty scallops in a thick, creamy white wine sauce, while the golden crumb on top added extra crunch.

And the fruity dessert of passionfruit, raspberry and pistachio tart is a real looker – the perfect way to finish off a romantic feast.

Valentine's Day Meal Deal

Score: 78/100

If you’re not fussed about a starter, Co-op's well-priced meal deal is ideal, and includes a main, side, dessert and drink for just £12. The likes of cheesy chicken parmigiana and rich, buttery dauphinoise potatoes are pure comfort food, for a delicious, cosy night in.

If you’ve still got room after all that, round the meal off with a glass (or two) of dry, pale rosé or elderflower presse. It’s a great value option for a decadent dine-in experience.

Morrisons Valentines Best Dine In

UK Taste Approved(GH)
Valentines Best Dine In

Score: 78/100

The highlight of Morrisons’ meal deal was the pulled beef en croute. Featuring a delicious, thick jus with notes of red wine, mushroom and black pepper, all encased within crisp pastry, it’s the ultimate main for a wintery night in. Serve it with the cheesy, truffle mash and you’re sure to win extra brownie points.

Testers also enjoyed the rich, creamy heart-shaped panna cotta pots with vanilla and tangy raspberry to round off the meal.

To wash it all down, you can choose between a floral prosecco with flavours of lemon sherbet, apple and elderflower, or Kylie’s light and fresh alcohol-free fizz.

ASDA Valentine’s Meal Deal

UK Taste Approved(GH)
Valentine’s Meal Deal

Score: 78/100

If you need more proof that nostalgic dishes are making a comeback, allow us to introduce ASDA’s Valentine’s menu, which is peppered with prawn cocktails and panna cotta.

Our testers enjoyed the salmon fillets as a main meal, describing them as a “light, fresh and healthy” option. And the generous buttery dill and lemon zest sauce elevates the dish to special occasion territory. If you’re after a knockout side dish, the beef-dripping skin-on chunky chips are super meaty, akin to an excellent roast potato. Need we say more?
