Our roundup of healthy foods for kids will satisfy even the pickiest of eaters. We tried a range of snacks, from rainbow-coloured, vegetable-filled, crunchy nuggets (perfect for all the family) to squeezy dairy and non-dairy fruit packs, and even some herbal teas specifically designed for little palates. Take a look at our top picks below.

How we test

The Good Housekeeping Institute blind-tasted a range of products and judged them on appearance, aroma, taste and texture. We tested products suitable for children aged six months and above that were naturally lower in sugar and high in fibre. Our panel of testers included a mixture of children and adults, so we could discover which snacks truly win on taste.

Bear

These are delicious strawberry-flavoured fruit strips with a gentle, dried strawberry aroma. We enjoyed the fruity sweetness and pleasant tang, along with the chewy, slightly sticky texture. It’s the perfect snack for kids (or adults), as it contains one of your five-a-day. One pack has the same amount of sugar as an apple. Suitable for vegans.

Biotiful Dairy

Another delicious option from Biotiful Dairy, this kefir-based product (which looks similar to cream cheese) is packaged in a fun Calippo-style tube. The squeezy contains plenty of gut-friendly bacteria too, to help improve gut health. The tube did become a little soggy while eating, but it didn’t deter our testers, who thoroughly enjoyed the sweet, vanilla flavour. The texture and taste is similar to Greek yogurt, with a tangy finish.
