1WINNER Morrisons 2 Egg Custard Tarts
MorrisonsScore: 81/100
A creamy, well-filled tart with a generous dusting of cinnamon and nutmeg. The slightly savoury and buttery aroma from the soft pastry compliments the sweet vanilla flavour in the egg custard filling.

2RUNNER-UP By Sainsbury's 4 Egg Custard Tarts
By Sainsburys Score: 80/100
Delicately dusted with cinnamon, these tarts were wonderfully sweet, rich and creamy with subtle vanilla and buttery pastry. Though it was neatly crimped, the pastry was a little too soft and we wanted more nutmeg from the filling.

Smoothly spread filling with a light sprinkling of cinnamon to top. The custard has a sweet and creamy aroma with a delicious buttery quality and touches of warming nutmeg. We loved the vanilla in the creamy egg custard and sweet pastry.

4Asda Extra Special 2 All-butter Egg Custard Tarts
AsdaScore: 74/100
A bright and generous crust and sprinkle of cinnamon, this tart ticked many boxes for our testers. We loved the nutmeg and sweet vanilla aromas . Likened to a crème brulee thanks to the intense creamy flavour of the smooth custard, but it lacks spice for a more complex flavour and the pastry is too soft.

5M&S 2 Egg Custard Tarts
M&SScore: 69/100
The filling was a little unevenly distributed, but we loved the look of chunky nutmeg pieces and the spiced aroma they gave off. Unfortunately, the nutmeg overwhelms in flavour and the tart has an eggy aftertaste. The custard is too-soft set and the pastry doesn’t hold together as well as we would hope.

6Aldi 4 Egg Custard Tarts
Jonathan_YatesScore: 66/100
The pastry on this tart has a lovely crimped effect around the outside but is too thick for our liking. We loved the hint of nutmeg on top, and the aroma was buttery and sweet. The flavour is balanced, with buttery pastry, hints of nutmeg, vanilla and cream. But the filling is too gelatinous and separated from the case. Testers also found the loose filling left the pastry soggy.
