Waitrose for Heston Teapot with Sugar Cube Chocolates (Earl Grey & Mandarin and Black Tea & Ginger) and Cocoa Nib Tea Leaves

Best novelty Easter egg
Alex Luck

Overall Score: 79/100

More useful than most chocolate teapots! When smashed open, this caramel milk chocolate teapot reveals delicately bitter cocoa nibs. The sugar cube truffles have a black tea-inspired earthiness and floral notes from jasmine and earl grey. Smooth with a great crunch from the granulated sugar, there are also ginger and clementine flavoured truffles that add spicy and fruity notes for depth. We also loved the Peter rabbit print and the gold lustre finish.

Peter

JOINT RUNNER-UP Overall Score: 73/100

Reminiscent of a tub of cookie dough ice cream, this 'sandwich' has notes of tart, sweet raspberry. Combined with a pecan paste and caramel flavour, it has an authentically sweet and nutty biscuit taste and fudgy texture with a slight crunch.

Booths Hot Cross Bun Milk Chocolate Easter Egg

Booths

JOINT RUNNER-UP Overall score: 73/100

This gold milk egg is crammed full of juicy raisins and biscuit clusters. Our panel loved the fruity scent with sweet, milky notes from the chocolate. A touch of bitterness compliments the milky, caramel undertones. There is a gentle note of cinnamon, but the egg needed more spice for a true hot cross bun flavour.

Overall score: 64/100

An authentic hot cross bun appearance with delicious candied orange peel. This Easter offering has enticing spiced notes reminiscent of the festive baked buns, but the chocolate itself lacks richness.

Cottage Delight Belgian Chocolate Chilli Infused Egg

Food, Cuisine,
M&S

Overall score: 60/100

Enjoyably creamy and smooth, but with a fiery hit! One for those who can handle the heat as the intensity builds with every bite. Sadly, the complexity of the chocolate taste is lost behind the chilli though.
