If you’ve been inspired by our Get Ahead Collection in the current November issue, then you may well be planning to stock up your freezer in readiness for the busy build-up to Christmas. For a helping hand (and let’s be honest, we all need one from time to time), we fully advise you dash along to M&S and stock up on its new frozen meal range.
What makes them so good?
M&S uses ingredients that stand up to freezing, carefully selecting the cuts of meat and using only raw fish, which means once it's cooked you can't tell it was ever frozen. The vegetables and pulses are robust so don’t go mushy when reheated and keep their vibrant colour. Visually, the meals look homemade and some even worthy of dinner party presentation (shhh… we won’t tell if you won’t).
Which ones should I choose?
With 19 to choose from, you are spoilt for choice! We particularly like the Shepherd’s Pie (and this isn’t just any Shepherd’s Pie…this is Shepherd’s Pie with Minted Pea and Potato Crush). Other favourites are the succulent Pulled Pork with Potato and Kale Hash, and the rather posh Confit Duck with Root Vegetables and Red Wine Jus.
So even if you’re going to be cooking up a storm in the kitchen over the next few months, it’s worth having a few meals ready in your freezer for those days when you just don’t have time or the energy. Even the domestic goddess has a few cheats up her sleeve!
