You might have seen the Hotel Chocolat Velvetiser doing the rounds last Christmas - it was one of our best performing hot chocolate makers in our rigorous tests. But did you know that Hotel Chocolat are launching an even better model? The brand have upped the game, revealing an improved and new look Velvetiser - and we already foresee this as being the IT Christmas present for 2025!

For those not familiar with the Hotel Chocolat Velvetiser, it's a beautiful piece of kit that makes velvety smooth hot chocolates - best when used with the brand's own hot chocolate sachets (white chocolate vanilla is my favourite flavour, in case you were wondering).

The main difference between the original model and this one, is that the new version can now do iced drinks! Before we had to create a hot chocolate, and pour it over ice if we wanted it cold, causing some serious dilution and lukewarm hot chocolates. Not ideal, I know. So this new feature is a very welcomed pro for the new model.

The Velvetiser’s new look has been designed and modelled after the shape of a cacao pod. Beautifully rounded and with an asymmetrical design - with proportions and balance found in nature. There's also a brand-new whisk, shaped with petal-like edges (inspired by the cacao flower, of course), which helps to create the perfect vortex-effect that cuts through the liquid to create an ultra-fine and aerated texture. And the inner pod ridges condense those air passages to stabilise the vortex. Long story short, the design now means better aeration for an even smoother and incredibly silky hot chocolate.

The new design also features a solid ash handle giving it a chic and earthy feel, as well as the intuitive dial interface with colour-coded light sequencing.

It will be available in three elegant colourways - Pebble, Pewter and Chalk and will be sold as a full system with the Velvetiser, a drinking chocolate selection box, a Podcup and Podglass, priced at £149.95.

The all-new Velvetiser will be launching in September and if you sign up to become a VIP.me member (it's free), you'll be first to know when it's available to purchase.
