The UK seems to be obsessed with matcha just as much as Dubai chocolate, and we can't go anywhere without seeing people drinking those vibrant green drinks around town. Whether you're team classic, strawberry or blueberry, Oatly are shaking up the matcha world with their own ready to drink version - and it's way cheaper than buying it from a specialty cafe..

Made for the matcha-obsessed and the matcha-curious, the brand-new Oatly Matcha Latte Oat Drink is a ready-to-drink and frothable(!) product that offers a convenient alternative to the traditional ritual of matcha making – and with a price tag that won't make your heart sink. This'll only set you back £2.95 for 1 litre, whereas we've seen some coffee shops charge £7.50 for a matcha latte!

This ready-to-drink option means there's zero energy needed when reaching for your caffeine fix, but without compromising on taste. And that is exactly how we like our caffeine to be honest.

The matcha latte is described as having a slightly sweet and earthy flavour - with a hint of vanilla, too. It is being sold in a generous sized carton that you can keep in your fridge to make either hot or cold (we're iced all the way so this will live in our fridge forever). Then all that's left to do is gently shake, pour over ice and enjoy. Perfect no matter what time of day it is.

The green tea leaves are steamed at a top-modern Japanese facility to prevent fermentation and preserve freshness before stripping the stems and veins from the leaves by machines and drying the flesh, known as Tencha, at 180°C. It’s then ground into a fine powder that easily mixes with liquids like Oatly oat drinks, to produce a smooth and velvety matcha drink.

The Oatly Matcha Latte Oat Drink is available now in Sainsbury’s and Morrisons, and will be online at Ocado from August 13th.
