First we saw candy floss flavoured grapes, then it was tutti frutti, and now, Co-op is shaking (get it?) up the fruit aisle with the UK's first mojito flavoured grapes! Just when we thought the summer couldn't get any better..
If you can't quite wrap your head around fruit tasting like cocktails and sweets, let me explain exactly how this brand-new variety came about. The flavour of these grapes are a result of the way they have been developed in Spain, by naturally selecting and breeding one flavour of grape with another. Ultimately taking certain flavour profiles, mixing them up and giving birth to a brand-new and exciting product! Science is so cool. 🤓
The flavour is described as being sweet with a refreshing and zesty hint of lime, which is reminiscent of the popular mojito cocktail. So if you love a mojito - you need to seek these out!
The new variety will be available in stores from early next week in Co-op stores (Wednesday 23 July to be exact), with the new and unique variety being named 'Mojito Fresh' after growers noticed its flavour resembled the classic cocktail.
We're super intrigued to try these, to see if they live up to the hype, but also so we can add them into this mojito ice lolly recipe! Cut a few in half and pop into your mould. Or freeze the grapes and add into a glass of white wine! That's our secret hack for keeping our drinks extra cold without diluting with ice (thanks us later).
The grapes will join the retailer’s premium Irresistible range, and will be limited-edition for just THREE WEEKS! We predict they'll be a sell out and at £2.90 for a pack, we might pick up a couple just to be safe.
