We've seen a lot of quirky flavoured food and drink products come out this year, so it takes a lot to shock us, but Italian chocolatier and gelato maker, Venchi has just released 3 bold, new gelato flavours for the summer, and they sound just like... a pasta dish... hear us out.

The brand revealed three very distinctive and kinda quirky Mediterranean-inspired gelato flavours that perfectly celebrate Italian culinary traditions and we are so excited to try them as they actually sound incredible.

The flavours include: Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Parmigiano Reggiano, and Caramel & Rosemary. That's almost the makings of a delicious pasta dish, right!

Venchi has collaborated with Laudemio Frescobaldi, producer of some of the world's finest Extra Virgin Olive Oil, for their EVOO gelato and a Milk Chocolate & Piedmont Hazelnut Spread with Extra Virgin Olive Oil, so you can expect it to be creamy, rich and very special.

The Extra Virgin Olive Oil gelato has been crafted with a delicate fior di latte base that enhances the slightly spiciness from the EVOO, offering a beautiful herbal and slight peppery note to the flavour. Perfect when paired with lemon or custard cream flavoured gelato.

The Parmigiano Reggiano gelato is a combination of the sweet-savoury cheese, paired with delicate fior di latte that enhances the cheese perfectly. Plus, it's enriched with soft flakes or Parmesan for a little textural bite. Perfect when paired with Piedmont hazelnut or strawberry flavoured gelato.

And finally, the Caramel & Rosemary gelato has gorgeous crunchy caramel crumbs dotted throughout, perfectly balanced with the fresh, slightly bitter and herbaceous flavour of rosemary. Perfect when paired with mango or Azteco flavoured gelato.

This collaboration highlights the finest Italian specialties, reimagined in a fresh and innovative way. The hardest part is deciding which flavour to try first - or do I just get all 3? That's probably the most sensible decision to be honest.

The collection is available in all Venchi stores with prices starting from starts £5.50 for a small (2 flavours), as well as takeaway options at £32.50 per kg! Be quick before it's all gone!
