Marks and Spencer know exactly how to get us excited. Last week they teased us with an Instagram post that said something BIG is coming and the brand also appeared on ITV's This Morning show last week, talking through some of their hero products from their Easter range and revealed that they're bringing out their own version of the viral Dubai chocolate bar! Yessss!
Inspired by the flavours of Dubai chocolate, M&S has taken their already very popular (and insanely indulgent) Big Daddy bar, and transformed it into a perfect pistachio product, launching The Big Daddy Pistachio Bar.
The brand has described it as a chunky chocolate bar with sweet pistachio cream, a sweet and salty caramel layer and white chocolate, plus, roasted pistachio pieces in the middle. The entire thing is covered in their signature creamy milk chocolate coating and it looks utterly divine.
In true M&S fashion it is predicted to be a sell-out, and apparently it has taken 9 months to develop and perfect this big daddy product!
The Big Daddy Pistachio bar retails for £8.50 for a 280g bar and has landed in stores and online today, Wednesday 23 April. Our Senior Food and Drinks Writer, Mel had a chance to try it.
"Initial thoughts on this bar... it is HUGE! I wouldn't even call it a bar - it is more like a chocolate block. It is bigger than my smartphone so definitely not a finish in one sitting type of sweet treat.
There is a subtle pistachio smell when I broke it in half but the caramel layer went everywhere so beware - it is sticky!! I love how generous the caramel layer in the middle is, and the chocolate is perfectly sweet against the nutty pistachio layer, but I would have liked a punchier pistachio taste. It gets a bit lost with all the layers going on.
And would I call this a Dubai chocolate? No, I don't think this can be compared at all as it's quite different. The caramel changes it significantly, but the flavour is truly delicious."
