This September, your favourite seafood chain celebrates an amazing 25 years of success. Johnny Noble set up the original Loch Fyne oyster farm in 1978 with the help of marine biologist Andrew Lane as a way to support the sea environment on the banks of Loch Fyne. In 1980, the pair opened their first oyster bar by setting up a trestle table under an umbrella on the shore of the Loch! They soon expanded into a shed, and then a cattle barn, which was converted into a restaurant and smoker. In 1990, they opened Loch Fyne Seafood and Grill in England, and there are now 41 restaurants throughout the UK.

It is not hard to see why the restaurant chain has continued to have success – the company works hard to remain true to its roots, and sustainability is at the heart of the business.
Loch Fyne, on the west coast of Scotland, has proven to be a perfect environment for growing oysters, mussels and salmon, and much of the shellfish and smoked fish served in the restaurants is freshly delivered from Loch Fyne on a daily basis. Most importantly, the restaurant sustainably sources all its fresh fish and seafood, so the stocks are either wild or responsibly farmed.
