Waitrose has released a range of Coronation products just in time for all the celebrations on this May, with our favourite product being the Jack Russell cake, which was inspired by the Kings' dogs.
The Jewel the Jack Russell Cake is a chocolate sponge rolled with chocolate flavoured buttercream, covered in milk chocolate and hand finished with sugarpaste and sugar decorations featuring a regal crown. We think it's an adorable homage to Beth and Bluebell, which are the names of the King and Queen Consort's two Jack Russell dogs. Waitrose will also be donating £1 of each sale to Battersea Dogs Home.
As well as Jewel, there's a chocolate traybake which will make a great addition to any Coronation parties and easily feeds a crowd. It's decorated with sugarpaste crowns and Jack Russell faces - we're adding this one to our cart immediately!
Alongside the new cakes, its classic All Butter Scones have been given a royal upgrade with a special crown embossed into each biscuit and housed in a. Plus, there's a new Coronation Mixed Berry and Bramley Apple Preserve which is a mixed fruit jam with tangy blackcurrants, blackberries, raspberry purée and Bramley apples.
There's also a limited edition Silent Pool Coronation Gin, exclusive to Waitrose, which is a luxury gin handcrafted with 24 botanicals in the Surrey Hills. The gin is a rich and juniper-forward spirit with floral notes like lavender and chamomile, citrus, kaffir lime and a subtly sweet honey taste too. You'll have to move quick on this one though, as once it's gone it's gone! The new gin retails for £45 for 70cl and is available in stores, while stocks last.
