This is one of those product launches where we have to really think back to whether these have ever been a thing before. Because, surely, it would be crazy for the makers of Smarties to only start making a white chocolate version of them in 2022. Like… why have these not been around for years?!
Anyway, what we’re saying here is that Nestle has finally made all our dreams come true by releasing white chocolate Smarties!
We first heard the news on Instagram when @treatsinstore posted an announcement on Instagram, saying: “NEW Smarties White Chocolate (UK 🇬🇧). Coming soon to the UK!! Yep, actual white chocolate Smarties!”
Rebecca Mitchell, Brand Manager for Smarties said: “Here at Smarties HQ, the most popular request we receive is for a white chocolate version – so we’re absolutely delighted to be able to grant the wish of Smarties fans everywhere!
“One of the reasons Smarties has been such a popular brand for so long is because we love to unbox imagination with exciting innovations - whether that’s new formats such as blocks and buttons, our recyclable paper packaging or delicious taste sensations. Smarties White have all the fun, colour and crunch of regular Smarties, but with a delectable white chocolate filling. We’re over the moon to introduce them and can’t wait to hear what everyone thinks!”
In 2020, we got a little taster of what Smarties combined with white chocolate could be like when Nestle launched Smarties Buttons, with a white chocolate version on offer. These tasty little nuggets were discs of white chocolate with mini Smarties stuffed inside. But the Smarties still had milk chocolate in the centre.
Then there were the Smarties chocolate bars – one of which was white chocolate. But, again, the Smarties that were crammed into these bad boys had milk chocolate centres.
So, the fact that these new Smarties are all 100% white chocolate is a dream come true.
According to Nestle, we'll be able to get our hands on white chocolate Smarties mid-March.
