Ben & Jerry’s is releasing its first ice cream on a stick and here at Good Housekeeping we were lucky enough to try some ahead of the mid-January launch. And let's just say they don't disappoint.
The peace sign shaped lollies are made with Fairtrade vanilla chocolate chip ice cream surrounding a gooey cookie dough centre, encased in milk chocolate. All on a stick.
Ben & Jerry's Flavour Guru, Josine Nohlmans said in the press release: "We know people love our cookie dough like their own family or pets. So we reimagined it so they never need to leave home without it. Now they can walk their puppy AND enjoy Ben & Jerry’s. Give me a heck yeah."
The packaging is completely recyclable and you can buy packs of three for £4 or individual ice creams for £2.20.
Mel Giandzi, Expert Food Tester at Good Housekeeping Institute was very impressed with the new treat. Saying: "The latest release from Ben & Jerry’s is what we’ve all been waiting for. It has a deliciously fudgy chocolate coating, creamy vanilla ice cream with chocolate chips and a salty yet sweet cookie-dough centre. The perfect sized ice cream portion on a stick."
Though it's our first chance to get our hands on the treats in UK shops, Peace Pops were actually first created by co-founders Ben & Jerry to campaign for peace initiatives in the US back in 1988.
The brand said in the press release: "Peace, Love & Cookie Dough is more than just a funny saying – we continue to raise a stick for peace, justice & equality today. From Fairtrade Certified ingredients that champion economic justice, to partnerships & advocacy that seek to educate & mobilise citizens to drive systemic change around the world."
Ben & Jerry’s Peace Pops will be available in Co-op stores from mid-January and rolling out in other supermarkets through Spring. RRP £2.20 (single product) and £4 (3 multipack).
