A good food hybrid always stirs up opinions, and this one will be no different. Asda has just launched a Hot Dog Pizza.

The inventive new hybrid captures the authentic hot dog flavours – even the mustard and ketchup – and recreates it on a 10-inch pizza base.

The base is covered with a rich tomato sauce, and then topped with slices of hot dog, fresh red onion and creamy mozzarella. Then, to really get the full Hot Dog experience, the pizza is finished with a drizzle of ketchup and mustard.

We can't promise you'll be transported to the Superbowl, but it definitely sounds like a slice of Americana.

And while the fun hybrid of two family favourite treats is sure to delight kids, it actually sounds like a perfectly tasty pizza too.

Georgia Gilman, Pizza Buyer at Asda, said in the press release: “Following the success of our Cheeseburger Pizza, we wanted to provide customers with another takeaway hybrid they won’t be able to resist.

"Takeaways are always a treat, but the price tag is never so sweet – our Hot Dog Pizza is only £2.95, perfect for a Friday night in that won’t break the bank.’’

Asda’s 10-inch Hot Dog Pizza is available now in store and online. RRP: £2.95
