As summer comes along and the sun begins to stretch well into the evening, we're in the mood for a spritz. While the classic Aperol Spritz has long been a firm favourite, this year we are really excited about Hotel Starlino's new Rosé Aperitivo in a cocktail...

Yep, the makers of Malfy gin have just launched Starlino Rosé aperitivo, a delicious-sounding new drink from Northeastern Italy. It's made by blending rosé wine, spirit, pink grapefruit peel, orange peel and eight other botanicals, coriander, and comes in a gorgeous, apothecary-style bottle with real ceramic and wooden stoppers.

The versatile aperitivo has several recommended serves, but it's the spritz cocktail suggestion that really stands out. Choose an elegant glass, add ice, then add three parts Starlino Rosé, two parts Prosecco and one part sparkling water, before garnishing it with a slice of pink grapefruit. The resulting pink spritz is refreshing, flavoursome and oh-so-pretty!

If you're after a more simple or low-alcohol option, then simply enjoy the 17% ABV aperitivo over ice with tonic. Or, if you're feeling really glamorous, mix one part Starlino Rosé with one part vodka to create a Starlino Rosé Cosmopolitan, garnished with maraschino cherries.

Beppe Ronco, Master Distiller and Winemaker at Torino Distillati – where Starlino Rosé is made – said in a release: "We are seeing a huge resurgence of interest in vermouths and aperitivos, and wanted to create something new, fresh and delicious to bring this forgotten but wonderful category back to life."

The beautiful bottle is inspired by Italy’s turn of the twentieth century design and architecture style – known as Stile Liberty – and, once the drink is all gone, you'll definitely want to keep it. Thanks to its stopper, you could easily reuse it for table water or any homemade drinks.

GH wine and spirits expert, Alex Hale said "this is a beautifully bottled, bitter sweet aperitivo packed with pink grapefruit. It is beautifully balanced with a sweet, yet refreshing flavour and a touch of zesty bitterness on the finish. Ideal with tonic water or as a Spritz with sparkling wine and soda water."

Alex added that "Hotel Starlino have also released a beautifully deep and rich Vermouth with an indulgent caramel and bitter sweet herb flavour. Perfect for cocktails!"

We can't wait to sit back and sip on a Starlino Rosé Spritz in the sunshine this summer...
