Gin is great. End. Mayonnaise is amazing. Fin.

And just when we thought two of our favourite things couldn’t get any better, these guys in Amsterdam go and mix them together, and, as well as making gin mayonnaise they also end up making our dreams come true.

Mossel Gin is a seafood restaurant and bar in Amsterdam. It serves delicious food and unique cocktails, made using one of the 12 types of gin available (including five unique infused gins). But as well as that, it’s also where Gin Mayo first graced us with its boozy, creamy goodness.

The con-gin-ment (come on - that’s funny) was made for the first time in 2014 by head chef Sten. He used the restaurant's blend of typical Dutch ‘Zaanse Mayonaise’ and Bobby's Dry Gin from Schiedam. The Gin Mayo has 5% gin in it, which means it has an ABV of 2%, so make sure you leave the car at home when indulging in a night on the sauce. Literally.

Up until recently, the condiment has only been available to enjoy at the restaurant. But due to increasing demand, customers can now take home a tube.

And if you happen to be in Amsterdam, it’s also available at Albert Heijn supermarkets.

But us Brits will have to just order it online for the foreseeable future, as it’s currently not on sale over here. But if it’s as dreamy as we’re sure it must be, we’re guessing it’ll find its way over here before long.
