This morning, just when I thought all the best dresses of summer were either sold out or on sale with all the standard sizes out of stock, a shirt dress with balloon sleeves and pretty embroidery popped up on my feed and stopped me in my tracks.
Maxi length, in a tobacco-brown linen blend with pockets and a belt, the dress showed as being available in both petite and regular sizes – I’m 5ft 2in, so that’s a win for me. But my first thought was, ‘Oh, I won’t be able to afford that.’
I was so convinced it was by Chloé, where a typical shirt dress costs from £1,000, I hadn’t noticed that it was by Boden and costs £219. Yes, still a little bit pricey, but nowhere near as expensive as I expected.
As a long-term fan of Chloé, I’ve always wanted a shirt dress that suits my height without swamping me – a dress that’s both smart and with relaxed boho vibes that I can wear for years, and be able to pull out as a ‘dressy’ dress every single summer.
This will do that for me and for you – and it will also convert me to becoming a Boden customer for the first time. It also comes in royal purple and is an investment piece you won’t want to miss.
