With the high streets slowly filling up with autumn/winter fashion, you may be wondering what the trends are set to be this season. Well, one style that’s definitely caught our eye is the ingenious ‘scarf coat’.
With many of us frequently asking ourselves during the colder months, ‘Do I need a scarf today?’, the scarf coat is officially here to ease all your winter woes. It’s the gorgeous hybrid coat we didn’t know we needed, and the original design traces back to Stockholm designer brand Toteme, which launched a combined scarf coat back in 2021.
Good Housekeeping’s fashion director, Amanda Marcantonio, reveals why she thinks the scarf coat is the perfect statement piece this season:
‘I’ve been lucky enough to attend all the A/W 24 press shows and, without doubt, the coat shape of the season is the scarf coat. Like a co-ord, a coat with an attached matching scarf looks incredibly chic. What could be more luxurious than swathes of fabric? There’s something so dramatic and fabulous about the swoop of a gigantic scarf across the body.
‘The asymmetrical tailored silhouette and playful proportions will make even the most casual of outfits look polished and elegant. Plus, there’s no chance of leaving your scarf on the bus!’
