The best-dressed guests from the Downton Abbey: A New Era premiere
The cast members did not disappoint on the red carpet
Downton Abbey is known for its glamorous costumes, so it came as no surprise that last night's London film premiere was a very elegant affair. At the Downton Abbey: A New Era premiere in Leicester Square, we were treated to some stylish looks on the red carpet, from Michelle Dockery in shimmering Valentino, to Laura Haddock in a delicate feathered Miu Miu design, and Claire Danes in a lace Prada look.
The franchise has become one of the most popular period dramas of all time, something that Michelle Dockery (who stars as Lady Mary Crawley) puts down to our fascination with the past.
Downton Abbey fans can expect the return of other much-loved characters as well as new faces in the second film, which will pick up where the last movie left off in the late 1920s. Downton Abbey: A New Era will premiere in UK cinemas on 29 April, but for now, enjoy our edit of the best-dressed stars from last night's red carpet, here:
Elizabeth McGovern
Elizabeth McGovern stole the show in an off-the-shoulder gown by Azi & Osta fit for Downton Abbey – accessorised with David Morris jewels.
Laura Carmichael
Laura Carmichael opted for a baby pink Giambattista Valli mini-dress, with a delicate train and oversized bow detail.
Joanne Froggatt

Joanne Froggatt went bright in a red Sabina Bilenko couture gown with an asymmetric neckline.
Michelle Dockery
Michelle Dockery shimmered in a pleated Valentino gown with a co-ordinating cape. She matched the elegance of her dress with a timeless red lip.
Tuppence Middleton
Tuppence Middleton also opted for Valentino, matching the embellished silver straps on her dress with her strappy metallic heels.
Laura Haddock

Laura Haddock chose an ethereal design by Miu Miu, which featured a delicate sheer cape and feathered skirt. She finished her look with Tasaki jewellery.
