Cate Blanchett gives 'Christmas pyjamas' a red carpet spin

We did a double take when we saw Cate Blanchett's latest look on the red carpet, as it was reminiscent of some of our fave Christmas pjs - but ultra chic, of course.

The star put a spin on the classic tartan pyjamas with a check co-ord with joggers (lined with sequins, for a subtle sparkle) and a matching button-up shirt to attend the screening of the new film Queer, starring Daniel Craig.

The red and green hues within the multi-coloured pattern sparked a festive feel and conjured memories of cosy films like Home Alone, which starred Macaulay Culkin in a range of nostalgic nightwear.

Cate finished her ensemble with a pair of white trainers, adding a sporty edge to her casual-chic look. Also attending the red carpet event was Cate's friend and the star of the film, Daniel Craig.

For the occasion, Daniel opted for a taupe suit with a double breasted jacket by Giorgio Armani, over a crisp white shirt. He wore the shirt sans tie with the collar open for a more relaxed feel.

Arriving at the event however, Daniel layered up stylishly for the chilly December evening in a co-ordinating coat and expertly knotted scarf. To finish the look, Daniel added a pair of glasses with yellow tinted lenses for a modern feel.

The screening of Queer took place at Curzon Mayfair on Tuesday 10 December. The film will be released in cinemas UK wide later this week, from Friday 13 February.
