The Duchess of Edinburgh was the epitome of classic glamour as she stepped out with her husband, Prince Edward, at Ascot alongside other members of the Royal Family.

The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh enjoyed a day at Ascot Racecourse on Wednesday (19 June) on the day of their silver wedding anniversary. The couple celebrated in style, both dressed to the nines for the occasion, with Prince Edward in a top hat and tails while Sophie went for an elegant all-cream look.

The Duchess embraced the sheer trend in a grown up way, with a double layer dress embellished with applique daisies. The long sleeve maxi dress featured sheer detailing making it an elevated choice for a summer garden party or event such as the races.

Sophie added a striking, wide-brimmed hat and accessorised with a pair of cream heels and matching handbag to complete the monochrome ensemble.

The Duke and Duchess posted a portrait together to Instagram to mark their special anniversary. They said they were "so grateful for the many kind and lovely messages we have received on our Silver Wedding Anniversary."

They also extended their wishes to "everyone who is celebrating their own anniversaries" hoping they had "a special day too."

Other members of the Royal Family who have attended Ascot across this week include The King and Queen, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, Zara Phillips and Princess Anne.

Prince Edward is the youngest son of the late Queen Elizabeth II, and The King's brother. He and his wife received the titles of Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh from The King once he became monarch. They were formerly The Count and Countess of Wessex, titles they received when they married on 19 June 1999.
