One of the problems youre going to encounter if you colour treat your hair is hanging on to that colour stopping it from leaching out. So you really need to use a non-sulphate shampoo, specifically designed to stop that cuticle swelling. You swell your cuticle, youre going to lose your colour.
The condition of the hair matters as well. It gets dry, brittle sort of brassy. Again, choose the best conditioner for that. Conditioning agents in the conditioners are traditionally known to yellow your hair. So again, be very careful which conditioner you use.
If youre a lighter brown, or even a dark blonde so when you were a child you were quite blonde I would add highlights and warmer tones, to get that childlike, baby beautiful look that you used to have.
So, when you approach colour when you get older, I think the real rule of thumb is definitely dont go too dark, and definitely dont go too light. Both are a little harsh and theyre going to make you look older.
One of the biggest problems people have when they colour treat their hair is their roots. Whether it's grey roots coming through, or whether its dark roots because you highlight your hair.
So, what youre going to need is the most incredible root cover formulation. So my recommendation would be the Colourwow Root Cover Up (colourwow.com). Its a revolutionary formulation of mineral powder. It instantly adheres to hair. Its not messy, no fuss, and its quick and easy.
