The Duchess of Edinburgh stepped out in a cosy-chic look on Tuesday (16 January) which is the perfect outfit for winter.

For an official public outing in Battersea, London, The Duchess arrived wearing a cream roll neck jumper and midi skirt over tan leather boots. She picked up the warmer tone of her footwear with a co-ordinating envelope clutch bag. Sophie then offset the neutral tones of her base pieces by adding a green wrap-around 'coatigan', to brighten up the look.

The combination of soft fabrics in the roll neck, skirt and coatigan create a cosy feel for winter. The clean lines of the midi skirt combined with the jacket lapels and cinched in waist, however, create a feel of sophisticated tailoring. The result is a chic yet wrapped up look for winter, which feels especially luxe.

The Royal was in Battersea to visit the Katherine Low Settlement charity, in honour of its 100th year. Programmes from the organisation support "over 500 vulnerable local people, including the elderly, families, and refugees," according to a post on the official Royal Family instagram account.

The centre also has a historical royal connection, as it was opened back in 1924 by Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, who at that time was still the Duchess of York.

While visiting the charity, Sophie got involved with lots of activities, including sewing, seated dancing and reading with children. Photographs from the day show The Duchess chatting and laughing with staff and visitors to the programmes offered by the charity, as she got stuck in with the activities.
