Queen Camilla looked elegant in emerald green evening wear to attend the Foreign Press Association Awards in London on Monday evening (20 November).
The Queen wore a velvet long-sleeved midi dress in a vibrant jewel shade for the annual event, which celebrates the oldest and largest association of foreign correspondents in the world. To complete her sophisticated seasonal look, the Queen wore pearlescent drop earrings and black stilettos. She also carried a clutch bag which off-set the green in a contrasting navy blue.
A post shared on the royal family's official Instagram page shared that Queen Camilla gave the keynote speech at the awards ceremony. She addressed the audience, which was made up of influential members of the British and international media, by saying: "Ladies and gentlemen, yours is an awe-inspiring responsibility: you question, debate and analyse and thus protect what is so easy for us to take for granted – true freedom of expression."
Queen Camilla's velvet dress was a classic choice suited perfectly to the time of year. Velvet styles have long been a popular option for special occasions during the winter months and now that the temperature has dropped, we're seeing the decadent fabric make its return once again. Claudia Winkleman recently wore a stunning velvet maxi dress, while Tess Daly chose a rich blue velvet suit to present Strictly last month.
