The Princess of Wales ditched traditional winter colour palettes and neutral tones in favour of dopamine dressing at an official event – donning a colour with a special royal meaning.

Kate stepped out in a bright purple Emilia Wickstead trouser suit today, to host a conference at London's Design Museum. The royal presented a keynote speech to leaders and specialists to kick off the event, which shared recent findings from her Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood.

In true Kate fashion, she teamed her vibrant look with pointed black pumps, elegant diamond and sapphire earrings and her signature bouncy blow-out. Royal fans will recognise her Emilia Wickstead design; Kate previously wore the style for a visit to Northern Island in 2021 with Prince William.

The Princess' look also held significant meaning as a member of the royal family. The colour purple has long been associated with the monarchy; perhaps Kate's choice is a subtle nod to her father-in-law, King Charles III, who celebrated his 75th birthday earlier this week.

The trouser suit is always a guaranteed way to look and feel chic, whether worn to work like Kate, or styled down with a t-shirt and trainers. Suits can be relied on year after year and worn in different ways throughout your wardrobe; and the Princess demonstrates exactly how to channel the trend.
