Kate Moss made the case for the return of the smoking jacket at last night’s Saint Laurent show for Paris Fashion Week.
The supermodel, who is also the face of the brand’s autumn/winter 2023 campaign, led the charge wearing a classic black tailored jacket, Le Smoking, for which the label is renowned.
Kate paired the iconic piece with a cream silk camisole and a black silk pencil skirt, which she finished with sheer tights and a pair of simple court shoes.
Yves Saint Laurent first introduced the female smoking jacket for which it’s now famous in 1966, after re-cutting the man’s dinner jacket specifically for a woman’s body.
Its status was cemented in style circles in 1971, when Bianca Jagger married Mick wearing a white version in St. Tropez. Saint Laurent continued to riff on the smoking jacket until his final collection in 2002.
This is the second show of the season for Kate, who also attended the Fendi show to support her friend, Kim Jones, at Milan Fashion Week last week.
The Cosmoss founder was joined on the FROW at Saint Laurent’s high-octane show set under the sparkling Eiffel Tower by Rhode founder, Hailey Bieber; Sex Education star, Emma Mackey; and burgeoning fashion darling and Kate's very own goddaughter, Iris Law.
