Fearne Cotton has shared a selection of photographs from her family's albums and reminded us why "old photos are the best".

Writing on Instagram, Fearne said she had been to visit her parents' home and "poured over all the old albums" to look back at pictures of her mum, Lin, her dad and her late grandmother, Ruby.

"Popped to Mum and Dads and did my favourite thing; poured over all the old albums," Fearne explained in the caption alongside the seven family photos that she shared. "Old photos are the best. Atmosphere and magic captured."

In the series of pictures, Fearne's mum can be seen looking glamorous in a purple halter-neck dress and platform shoes, with other images also showing her stunning retro looks. "I was definitely born in the wrong era," Fearne continued. "The clothes, the music, the make up and thin brows. Divine. The first few pics are of my mum Lin looking incredible. Picture 6 is of mum and dad. And picture 7 is of my late Nan Ruby (my dads mum)."

Fearne added that she "can't stop looking" at the special black and white portrait of her grandmother.

"She looks so beautiful and her expression is unposed and natural," Fearne said of the picture. "There was no opportunity to see the photo before it was developed, or pick one picture out of the best of 300 deleted selfies. They were raw, unfiltered and gave you a real glimpse of the person in the picture. ♥️"
