As the days are getting colder, we’ll be looking for stylish and practical transitional wardrobe heroes to take us through autumn and beyond.
So, what exactly counts as transitional? Pieces that are lightweight enough for end-of-summer days or that unexpected September heatwave but also easy-to-layer items that can be paired up with tights and boots when temperatures drop.
To help us, Boden recently shared images of its "whatever-the-weather" Lily Chambray Midi Shirt Dress, along with some styling ideas on how to wear it throughout the year.
The midi dress is now a staple in every woman's wardrobe due to its multitasking abilities. This one features a flattering belted waist and is made of 100% cotton, meaning you can easily wear it now or layer it up later this year.
Its midi length also means you can wear this hero piece from autumn through to spring with a simple switch between knee boots and trainers.
The video showcases three different looks. In the first one, the model styled the dress with a simple leather belt and canvas tote, perfect for slightly warmer days.
For the second look, the model opted to wear a classic breton roll neck top under the dress and pair it with leather boots - and we can imagine ourselves wearing this outfit this autumn whether we are running errands or heading to the office.
In the third and more wintery look, the model is seen wearing a timeless fair-isle tank over the midi. She paired it with a wool-blend pea coat for that extra layer and finished the look with some knee high leather booths.
