Last month, she had taken to Instagram in a heartfelt post about what it meant to be nominated.

“If I could tell that girl who yearly recorded the Tony Awards on her VHS that this would happen, it would have blown my world open. To tell her she’d be living in New York, performing in A Doll’s House, and nominated for a Tony Award for Best Actress… It is a dream come true,” she wrote.

However, it was Jodie Comer who came out triumphant as she won for her performance in ‘Prima Facie’.

Addressing the audience after receiving the award in a black strapless Thom Browne gown paired with pearl earrings, The ‘Killing Eve’ star thanked her team including playwright Suzie Miller and director Justin Martin.

Talking to the press afterwards, she said it feels surreal and that winning “has been such an honour.”
