Kylie Minogue made a surprise cameo at Wembley Stadium yesterday (11 June) during the Capital presents Summertime Ball with Barcaycard event.
The 55-year-old wowed the 80,000-strong crowd as she performed her first UK performance of her new song ‘Padam Padam’. Released last month, the song is the lead single for her upcoming sixteenth studio album ‘Tension’, which is set to be released in September.
Donning a red ensemble including knee-high boots, matching gloves and lipstick, the Australian queen of pop followed her new single with her iconic 2001 hit ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’. She was joined by dancers also dressed in red.
Taking to Instagram, the singer later shared a behind-the-scenes clip of herself preparing to perform. In the clip, Kylie climbs into a small centre stage lift before telling her team to send her up onto the stage.
‘When you’re about to PADAM PADAM at WEMBLEY STAAAAADIUUUM! What a treat to surprise you all at @capitalofficial ‘s Summertime Ball,’ she captioned the footage.
According to The Mirror, Kylie’s cameo was just as much a surprise to her as it was to fans. “"It was the best surprise. It was almost a surprise for me, it really was very last-minute. We just flew on in,” she said to press.
The Summetime Ball kicked off yesterday with a star-studded lineup including Harry Styles, The Jonas Brothers and Ellie Goulding. The crowd sung along to classic hits including Ellie Goulding’s ‘Burn’ and One Direction’s ‘Story Of My Life’, sung by former One Direction star Niall Horan.
