The Duchess of Cambridge welcomed nominated guests to a special event yesterday (18 May) on behalf of the Queen.

The Duchess joined guests at Buckingham Palace for a garden party to celebrate the contributions of those nominated by a range of “societies and associations, government departments, local government, the services, the Church and other faiths,” according to Buckingham Palace.

Yesterday’s garden party was the first since the pandemic. Usually attended by the Queen, this year the Duchess of Cambridge stepped in to represent Her Majesty alongside the Queen’s youngest son, Prince Edward, and his wife, Sophie Wessex.

To attend the event Kate wore a stunning all-pink ensemble consisting of a blazer-style, tailored dress by Emilia Wickstead, along with a chic, circular headpiece in the same hue by Jane Taylor. She carried a white clutch bag with an intricate, multi-coloured pattern to complete the look.

Below, we’ve found some of our favourite pink dresses from the high street which would be ideal for a garden party this summer:

Photographs from the event were shared to the official Instagram account of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, in which Kate can be seen meeting a number of guests including the child ambassador of a charity, Scout leaders and other attendees.

In a caption, the Duchess said it was, “So lovely to see so many people (including lots of familiar faces!),” and described the garden party as, “An opportunity to show our gratitude to individuals and organisations across the country who are going above and beyond, doing fantastic work in their communities.”
