The Countess of Wessex wore a summery midi dress to attend a sailing academy during her royal tour.
Sophie Wessex stepped out in a stunning blue and orange floral dress to attend the sailing school in St John’s, Antigua and Barbuda, as part of an official Caribbean tour alongside her husband Prince Edward, the Queen’s youngest son.
The Countess’ loose-fitting dress is ideal for warmer weather and features floating, puff-sleeves and a waist-tie, to offer a little shape without being too restrictive.
Sophie paired the dress with wedged espadrilles featuring a raffia trim which tied in a bow at the ankle, and she finished the look with simple gold jewellery.
The event Sophie Wessex was attending was a boat race at the National Sailing Academy yesterday (25 April) between Duke of Edinburgh Award students.
The academy is home to the Sail-Ability programme which helps children with disabilities get involved with water sports.
During her visit, Sophie met members of staff as well as children taking part in the day’s race at the academy and stood on the jetty to assist the sailors, which including using a winch to help those with disabilities get into the boats.
The Countess then officially started the boat race and can be seen blowing a horn to signal the launch.
The Earl and Countess of Wessex’s Caribbean tour began in St Lucia and is taking place in honour of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee year.
A post on the royal family’s official social media explained that the pair will, “meet communities, local entrepreneurs and young people in celebration of the culture, future and vibrancy of the islands,” during their tour.
