The Duchess of Cambridge took part in a very special engagement on the last day of the royal tour of Scotland on Thursday (27 May), as she kept her promise to an adorable little girl called Mila...
Kate first spoke to five-year-old Mila as part of her Hold Still photography competition, after her image was selected as one of the 100 finalists.
In the weeks prior to the first lockdown in March last year, Mila's family made the difficult decision to isolate in different households in order to keep the little one protected, as she was only four months into her chemotherapy journey for leukaemia at the time.
In a moving phone call, which was shared in a video on the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's YouTube channel earlier this month, the duchess promised little Mila that they'd meet up one day wearing pink dresses fit for princesses...
And, on Thursday, the special meet-up finally took place, with both the duchess and Mila looking absolutely beautiful in their coordinating pink dresses.
In a clip of their meeting at the Palace of Holyrood, shared on Will and Kate's official Instagram, we see Mila's excitement as she finds out that she is set to meet Kate, and then catches her first glimpse of the royal in person.
The little girl's face lights up as she sees the duchess, who walks over to Mila, tells her how much she loves her pink dress and asks her to give them all a twirl.
Kate kept her promise to match with Mila by choosing a stunning £450 Colour Block Silk Shirt Dress in Sugar Pink/Bubblegum by ME+EM, the brand has confirmed to Good Housekeeping UK.
The duchess paired the dress with a waist-cinching pink belt, which is a £38 buy from Boden that has sadly now sold out in the 'Lollipop' shade on the brand's website but is still available to shop at John Lewis.
The sweet meet-up was one of Kate's last engagements during the royal tour of Scotland, which began last Friday (21 May) with Prince William's arrival.
The duchess joined him on Monday (23 May) with the couple enjoying an action-packed few days, which saw them return to the University of St Andrews where they met and fell in love nearly 20 years ago.
