The feline look is a Halloween classic - and for good reason. It's a crowd favourite for any Halloween party: partly due to its spectrum of scariness, and partly because most people have a black eyeliner somewhere in the house!

We've gathered together a selection of our favourite cat makeup ideas to get you ready for Halloween this year, however you're celebrating. From a delicate feline flick to visit friends, or a full cat glamour for your Zoom quiz, we've got you covered.

The gentle feline flick

We love this eyeliner look by Sofia Tilbury (yes - niece of makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury!). The angle of the eyeliner lifts the outer corner of the eye, and the eyeliner is brought downward in the inner corner, to create a brilliantly foxy look. It's a great way to add a touch of glamour to your Halloween look, without the fright. For a step by step tutorial, her aunt Charlotte Tilbury has a fantastically thorough YouTube tutorial here.

What to read next

The classic cat

Don't forget your whiskers! The fine detailing on the nose gives a fur-like appearance; just use a soft brown eyeshadow to draw delicate lines along the bridge of the nose. Not a fan of false eyelashes? Use a volumising mascara like this one instead, for maximum impact. The space bun hairstyle also compliments the look perfectly, as well as the jet black nails.

The cheetah

A playful spin on the classic cat look! This cheetah eye makeup is surprisingly easy to achieve, and will compliment any animal print outfit beautifully. If you like, you can also extend the leopard print makeup to your body, or over your face. In this post, makeup artist Chari Monét has included all the products she's used in the caption - so you can replicate at home.

The simple lion

Erin Parson, Global Makeup Artist for Maybelline, shows us that lions need not be scary! This makeup look is simple, yet effective. Completing the look is a textured ponytail, mimicking a mane. We recommend a texture spray, to give the hair a tousled finish. This spray from IGK is a firm favourite with our beauty team for it's hydrating formula and beachy finish.

The superhero

Don't forget Catwoman! Surprisingly, this makeup look requires the least amount of product: at the minimum, one black and one white eyeliner or face paint. If you don't want to take the makeup down to your body, a black rollneck jumper will also do the job just fine.

The cute cat

For those who are feeling ambitious... This not-so-scary cat is a great option for any budding makeup artists or face painters out there. Although striking, it's certainly gentle - perhaps one for the children?

The Cheshire Cat

The most beguiling of the bunch is this Cheshire Cat look. It's a great way to incorporate some colour into your Halloween look this year.
