Arguably one of the film industry’s most iconic blondes is blonde no more. Yes, Cate Blanchett just debuted new brunette hair on the BAFTAs red carpet, and she looked incredible!
Wearing custom Christopher Kane, the 49-year-old actress looked stunning with her chestnut brown locks at the ceremony, where she presented an award.
Her new-look hair was styled in a simple side-parted down ‘do by her long-term colourist, Nicola Clarke, who is based at John Frieda salons in London.
Blanchett’s make-up artist, Morag Ross, explained that the star’s new hair hue is for her current role at the National Theatre, suggesting that the transformation might only be temporary.
Since shaving her hair for a role in 2000, Blanchett’s been various interpretations of blonde – from strawberry to cream – save for a quick pink stint.
For someone so synonymous with light hair, Blanchett could pass for a natural brunette, and pulls it off with aplomb. Simply stunning.
