Less than a day after announcing she and Prince Harry are expecting a baby, Meghan Markle appears to be paying tribute to her late mother-in-law. Eagle-eyed royal watchers pointed out that the Duchess of Sussex is wearing a pair of butterfly earrings previously worn by Princess Diana.

The Princess of Wales was seen wearing the jewels during a trip to Canada with Prince Charles in May 1986. The appearance occurred a year and a half after Diana gave birth to Prince Harry.

This isn't Meghan's first time paying tribute to Diana through jewellery. On her wedding day, she wore an aquamarine cocktail ring that previously belonged to the princess to the Sussex's reception at Frogmore House. The bling was an elegant pop of colour against Markle's white Stella McCartney reception dress.

Meghan's engagement ring also includes two diamonds from Diana's personal collection. "It's so important to me to know that she's a part of this with us," Meghan said of the ring in her first joint interview with Harry after they announced their engagement.

It's heartwarming to see the couple continue to honour Harry's late mother as they begin to start their family.

During that same joint interview, Harry said he imagined his mother would "just be over the moon, jumping up and down, so excited for me" about the news of his engagement.

We can only imagine how happy she would've been to welcome Harry and Meghan's little ones as grandchildren.
