The season’s trendiest jacket? Bold blazers!

As wardrobe staples go, the classic blazer reigns supreme. Once reserved for office-only, the humble tailored cover-up has skyrocketed from boardroom basic to fashion statement and this season sees the blazer upping its game even further, with bold brights and look-at-me checks cutting a swathe through the A/W 24 collections.

My absolute favourite piece from the November main fashion shoot, which we shot on the incredible moorlands in Devon, has to be Boden’s zesty chartreuse cord blazer. Honestly, it’s so fabulous we had to stop members of the public walking off with the press sample (one lady on a walking tour left her group to come over and try it on)! And worn with the matching trousers, you’ll stop traffic for all the right reasons. I once owned a chartreuse jacket (RIP Topshop), which I loved, but my husband said I looked like I was wearing a hi-vis jacket. What does he know! I’ve never received so many compliments on a jacket before; random strangers coming up to me on the tube, asking me where it was from.

A vibrant blazer is wardrobe game-changer and easier to wear than you think. It’ll work from dawn to dusk and is as suited to a country walk as a chic cocktail party. Wear it to bring a rock ’n’ roll polish to pared-back tailoring, a playfulness to heritage knits and a luxe uptown coolness to country classics. Let’s face it, no one needs another plain black or navy blazer, so this autumn, be brave – be bold.
