Amal Clooney proved that velvet most definitely works for summer when she attended a charity gala in London at the weekend (16 June). The human-rights lawyer arrived at a gala dinner to benefit WAAAUB UK (the Worldwide Alumni Association of the American University of Beirut).
Clooney was a guest speaker at the event, which was held at the Jumeirah Carlton Hotel in Knightsbridge. She paired her floor-length gown with a pair of black pointed-toe heels, a simple box clutch and glittering diamond earrings.
She matched her dress with a deep red lipstick and wore her hair in loose waves.
It seems that Clooney, 40, has a penchant for burgundy at the moment; she wore a similar shade last week to attend the launch of Giambattista Valli's new Sloane Street store. The barrister arrived at the event wearing a one-shouldered jumpsuit with ruffled neckline.
