The Duchess of Cambridge paid tribute NHS frontline workers last week, during a conversation with one of the finalists of the Hold Still photography competition that she launched with the National Portrait Gallery back in May.
During the video chat, Kate was speaking to finalist Johannah Churchill, whose portrait ‘Melanie, March 2020’ was recreated as a mural in Manchester as part of the Hold Still community exhibition, as well as to one of Johannah's fellow NHS workers, Dr Edward Cole.
A short clip from their conversation was shared on the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's Twitter account on Sunday (15 November).
In it, we hear Kate say of Johannah's image: "I think that it's become such an iconic portrait that represents a lot of what frontline workers have experienced, and what those of you across the UK have...
"You know, you have put your lives on the line in looking after us all this year, so I think it certainly touched us, in terms of the judging panel. We felt it was a hugely moving image. And I think it has, like you say, it has really resonated with lots of the public."
The Duchess was perhaps paying further tribute to the NHS through her choice of outfit, as she wore a blue cardigan for the occasion. The baby blue knit, called the Abercorn Scallop Cardigan, hails from high street brand Boden and is still available to buy now in all sizes on the website, from 6 to 22.
With its on-trend scalloped detailing, the pretty cardigan would make a classic but contemporary addition to your winter wardrobe.
Earlier on Sunday (15 November), another video of the Duchess of Cambridge paying tribute to everyone who entered the Hold Still photography competition was also shared on the royal social channels.
In the clip, Kate says: "I couldn't be more grateful to each and every one of the 31,000 people who submitted an image. It was so hard to select the final 100 photographs but we hope we have created a collective portrait of our nation, reflecting on what others have experienced as well as our own journeys through this difficult time."
The Duchess was wearing a bright red jacket with on-trend puffed sleeves, which felt decidedly festive. The red blazer with gold button detailing is believed to be a high street hero from Zara, which Kate first wore back in 2012 during the London Olympics.
