The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge marked Canada Day on Wednesday (1 July) by taking part in a special video call with healthcare workers in the Commonwealth nation, and thanking them for their hard work during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking from Amner Hall – the Cambridge family home in Norfolk where the royal couple have spent lockdown with their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis – Will and Kate paid tribute to frontline staff at Fraser Health's Surrey Memorial Hospital in British Columbia.

The caption posted alongside a short clip from their chat, shared on the official @KensingtonRoyal Instagram account, reads: "On #CanadaDay, we say thank you to frontline workers across the country for your amazing work protecting and supporting your communities."

During their conversation, Prince William thanked staff for their efforts, telling them how "proud" he and Kate were of them, while the Duchess acknowledged how difficult the pandemic must have been for frontline staff.

"It's an amazing role that you're playing and a hugely tough one as well," she said. "We have a huge admiration for all you're doing."

Kate looked lovely as always for the video call, wearing a red and white tweed dress with a high neck and short sleeves, which she may well have chosen as a nod to the colours of the Canadian flag.

And, if you fancy emulating the Duchess' latest outfit, then you'll be pleased to hear that Boden has a red and white tweed dress in its summer sale for just £42, reduced from £140.
