If there's one place we trust with our life to decorate our home, it's John Lewis. So when they announced their key Christmas trends for 2025, we read the information intently.
There may still be over 140 days to go until Christmas day, but if you're a true Christmas lover, you'll soon be thinking about what colour scheme, theme and decoration ideas you'll want for the festive period this year. And when you see what they have in store, you'll quickly forget it's only August and wish it was December!
There are four beautiful themes to take note of this year, all of which have taken inspiration from the timeless concept of wisdom. Relevant and valuable, no matter the era or culture.
The four distinct themes from the John Lewis Christmas trends for 2025 are: Heirloom Splendour, Enchanting Tales, Worldly Treasures and Ancient Wonders, and each have been thoughtfully curated to add charm to the festive period. Let's deep dive into each one.
Heirloom Splendour:
Described as a nostalgic and playful theme, with soft pastel colours (think champagne gold and light pinks and reds). Traditional bows, bell baubles and striped decor take centre stage for a playful yet simple look. And those with a sweet tooth will particularly love the retro biscuit felt bauble that has been hand-crafted with an adorable face on it.
There will also be gingham patterns sprinkled across decorations from baubles to doorscaping. And, John Lewis are also introducing its first-ever pre-lit gold Christmas tree - which they predict will be a bestseller this year!
Enchanting Tales (our favourite):
This theme has taken inspiration from the theatre and all it's wonderfully playful jewelled tones found in the perennial festive favourite, the pantomime. Rich reds, warm golds, peacock blues and juicy plum are the main colour palette's inspo, adding a layer of sophisticated glamour to the entire look.
The stunning Harlequin prints, available in a myriad of colourways, nod to the theatrical nature of Enchanting Tales, whilst glass features and delicate beadwork details will be included to add an element of luxury to this over aching theme. And this is a personal favourite.
Worldly Treasures:
Worldly treasures is all about the wisdom and experiences you gain from travelling and the vibrant memories collected on these journeys. From cameras, passports and backpacks to giraffes, koalas and elephants, there is an abundance of tree decorations to make your home as worldly as can be.
It's an eclectic mix of colours and shapes - think vivid brights with warm neutrals. This is a brand-new brand to John Lewis this called MADE51, with items created by the UN Refugee Agency. Items are made by skilled craftspeople, with handsewn fabric decorations that enable the refugee makers to achieve economic independence by sharing their valuable skills and traditions.
Ancient Wonders:
This theme has drawn inspiration from the natural world around us, with a curated trend that balances sophisticated neutrals with rich metallic tones of bronze and silver, accented with icy blue and deep reds.
Mythical creatures and prehistoric animals such as wooly mammoths and yetis make an appearance, whilst molten and weathered finishes have been applied to baubles and decorations for a worn-in antique-y look.
The clear favourite for us is the Enchanting Tales theme. We can't get enough of pink & red colours together, stripes galore and the stylish baubles to adorn the tree. Watch out John Lewis, we're going to buy you out of those blue and burgundy Harlequin baubles!! Now just to wait until December 1st...
