While the cheese advent calendar has revolutionised our December countdown over the past three years, we were left wondering how we were meant to get our dairy fix on actual Christmas Day.
Thankfully, we have to wonder no more, thanks to these cheese Christmas crackers, which have been created for the first time in 2019. Cheese. Christmas. Crackers. YES.
Cheese-lovers nationwide can rejoice this Christmas, as Sainsbury’s has announced it will be stocking the UK’s first Christmas cracker filled with cheese. Created by the same people behind the cheese advent calendar, the Cheese Cracker is the perfect alternative to normal crackers for any festive occasion this December.
Inside each cracker hides two flavours of cheese - one stick of creamy Ilchester Cheddar Cheese made in the West Country and one stick of Ilchester Red Leicester Cheese, with a smooth and slightly nutty taste. Also included in the crackers comes five mini oatcakes and a jar of tangy Tiptree Tomato Chutney, as well as a party hat and cheesy joke.
Emma Garvey, Cheese Buyer for Sainsbury’s, said: "We’re always looking for distinctive products to offer our customers, especially at Christmas when people are on the lookout for something new and special. We’re excited to be introducing the Cheese Cracker this year, to cater to cheese aficionados nationwide. The cracker makes for the perfect addition to a festive feast and we can’t wait to hear the response from our customers."
The cheese crackers are available to purchase for £3 in Sainsbury’s stores from 4 December.
