Coleen Rooney is the biggest name to enter the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! jungle this year, and as the show’s most famous face, all eyes are trained on her. Forget the Bushtucker Trials; what we really want to know is how the glamorous Mrs Wayne Rooney will cope without her regular beauty regime while she’s stuck in the tricky Australian climate. After all, there’s no glam squad, no luxury skin creams and certainly no blow-dry station in the camp.

The challenge of having to leave her beauty bag back at the luxury hotel will no doubt be helped by the fact that Coleen isn’t your stereotypical WAG. The Liverpudlian star has always been known for her natural, glowy, girl-next-door beauty rather than orange fake tan or OTT lashes, nails and hair. “I prefer a natural look,” she once said. “People overload themselves with makeup and bad hair extensions, but you don’t always need it. You’ve got to believe in yourself.”

However, that doesn’t necessarily mean she hasn’t done a little strategic beauty prep ahead of her jungle stint (alongside the military-grade planning she’s arranged for her four children while she’s away). We’ve asked the experts to cast an eye over the star and share their thoughts on her possible pre-jungle prep.

What skincare prep could Coleen have done?

Coleen is very discreet about the beauty treatments she has, but she’s known to favour Crystal Clear’s products and its Skinstorm facial, having previously even arranged an at-home pamper session for herself and some fellow WAGs.

Skinstorm is a six-step facial, involving an oxygen cleanse, therapeutic LED lights, ice peel, ice needling, high-pressure skin booster injections (no needles involved) and ‘triple fusion phototherapy’. Whew! It promises ‘instantly firmer, plumper, hydrated and energised skin’, according to Crystal Clear – which sounds exactly what you’d want for when you’re facing three weeks of candid close-ups. A treatment costs from £350.

Coleen hasn’t revealed if she’s treated herself to any further treatments recently, but the 38-year-old certainly looked remarkably fresh-faced as she arrived at Brisbane airport last week. With zero chance of a luxury, 10-step skincare regime sneaking past the I’m A Celebrity contraband police (even a pot of Vaseline got confiscated one year!), it’s likely that Coleen invested in some smart skincare prep.

That’s the opinion of celebrity facialist and clinic founder Natali Kelly, who tells GH: “Coleen’s complexion looked incredibly glowy, particularly considering she’d been on a long-haul flight, which will normally dry out skin. With that plus the jungle climate in mind, I think it’s likely she’s made an effort to preload her skin with as much hydration as possible.

“In my opinion, she will have treated herself to a good in-flight skincare regime, using intensive products such as masks, and I think she could also have had a deep moisturising facial. If I was working with a contestant, I’d recommend Hydrafacial’s new Hydralock HA Booster treatment, which triples hydration with a single treatment, reduces wrinkles and combats dullness without any downtime.” Cost: £180 at the Natali Kelly clinic.

A-list facialist and KICHI founder Natasha Clancy has also given GH her expert view on the sort of treatments that could create a Coleen-like glow. “Coleen’s skin looked flawless. I think she could possibly have had a laser facial around 14 days prior to leaving for the jungle. This would need to be carefully chosen, though. A good option would have been something like our clinic’s Baby Face treatment – Sienna Miller’s favourite – which uses one of the few lasers that’s suitable for use pre-sun exposure. The cell rejuvenation would leave a campmate with a glow that lasts for two months and keep their skin looking beautiful, makeup-free.” The price of perfection? From £300 at Natasha’s KICHI clinic.

Coleen usually looks more groomed and glamorous away from the jungle

Coleen has been linked with I’m A Celebrity for several months, which would have given her ample time to prepare with a course of non-invasive sculpting treatments. “If I was prepping a client for I’m A Celebrity, I’d recommend a series of radiofrequency treatments like our Youth Bomb facials to lift and tone the muscles and stimulate the fibroblasts to produce collagen,” says Natasha. “This would give long-term results that would definitely last a celebrity all the way through to the Cyclone challenge.”

A course doesn’t come cheap at around £2,100, but that’s a mere fraction of the £1.5m paycheque Coleen is rumoured to be collecting for her I’m A Celebrity appearance.

What about those immaculate brows?

Coleen also appears to have put extra time and effort into her eyebrows, which are looking meticulously groomed. “It looks to me as though Coleen could have had microblading,” says Jaimineey Patel, head of training at Blink Brow Bar. “With its precise application of semi-permanent pigment into the skin, using fine, hair-like strokes, microblading would be perfect for a stint in the jungle.

“I’d also speculate that Coleen may have had an eyebrow tint and shape to maintain colour and shape while she’s in camp,” Jaimineey adds. “As a result, she won’t need to worry about the lack of pencils or pomades to fill in her brows.”

On the lash in the jungle

On the opening show, Coleen arrived in camp with beautifully defined eyelashes – could they be more than just one final slick of mascara before embracing her bare-faced beauty? Very probably, thinks Sherrille Riley, brow and lash expert and founder of Nails & Brows clinic.

Coleen’s lashes had a luscious and lifted look

“Coleen looks like she may have had a lash lift, a low-maintenance alternative to lash extensions,” she tells GH. The treatment involves lifting the natural lashes from the root, so they look thicker and longer. “It opens the eyes and is perfect for when you can’t wear makeup – so it’s great for the jungle,” adds Sherrille. “Plus it will look as good in three weeks as it does on day one, so it would be an ideal treatment for an I’m A Celebrity finalist.” (And who would bet against Coleen becoming Queen of the Jungle?)

Crowning glory in camp

Coleen’s choice to go for a shorter lob this year is a smart move for the jungle, says Sam Burnett, award-winning hairstylist and founder of Hare & Bone salon. “Her lob, hitting that chic Victoria Beckham length, has so many benefits in a setting like this.

Coleen swapped longer locks for a shorter lob style earlier this year

“First, it’s quick and easy to dry, and it’s long enough to tie back into a low ponytail or bun, keeping it practical and out of the way for any trials. Lastly, it’s perfect for embracing natural texture, making it a no-fuss style that still looks polished. It fits Coleen’s laid-back, natural beauty ethos perfectly, and it’s bang on-trend – even in the jungle.”

Beauty from the inside

Whatever Coleen’s been doing externally, it’s working. And it appears that the star has chosen to look after her beauty from the inside out during her time in the jungle, too. According to insider reports, the star (and Applied Nutrition ambassador) has chosen collagen sachets as her luxury item, having previously described them as “one of those little things that’s really helped me feel my best”.

A show insider told The Mirror: “She’s always looked after herself and this is just part of her routine. She absolutely swears by collagen and it was non-negotiable. It’s one of her secret weapons for staying healthy. Most people would be sneaking in bars of chocolate, but she’s packed plenty of collagen sachets to keep up with her daily regime.”

The only problem could be hiding them from her campmates once they become ravenously hungry…
