To name your debut skincare product 'magic' is bold. But then, when Charlotte Tilbury launched her Magic Cream a decade ago, she knew she was onto something special. As a world-class makeup artist, the cream had been her secret weapon - a formula that perked up even the most tired-looking complexions; that made her trademark glowy skin look that little bit glowier, that bit more luminous, that bit more dewy. Sharing it with the world was a no-brainer.
And since its launch, the award-winning Magic Cream - which Tilbury nicknames a 'push up bra in a jar' for the face - has lived up to the hype. It's currently the UK's bestselling luxury moisturiser. The only (teeny weeny micro-sized) problem with it? For some, the texture is a little too thick. So in an attempt to improve upon perfection, the team at the Charlotte Tilbury lab has been toiling away to create a cream that, while equally magic and hyper hydrating, is also a little lighter...
Enter the Magic Water Cream, £79.
With its almost weightless, gel-cream consistency, this iteration of the Magic Cream will please those with oiler complexions, or those who simply prefer their moisturiser a smidgen less rich. Not least because while it might be lighter in texture, it's no less mighty in its magic. Delivering the same potent skin-reviving punch as its predecessor, the Magic Water Cream also delivers the wonders of, well, a water cream - that is to say, it gives an intense (and we mean intense) hit of hydration thanks to niacinamide and a biopeptide complex alongside Tilbury's patented 'waterlocking fusion technology', whereby a clever blend of ingredients 'trains' the skin barrier to retain more moisture for, according to the brand, "100 hours of hydration" with every application.
The result? Reduced redness, less visible pores and, basically, the best bouncy, juicy, glassy, pepped-up skin of your life (well, it is magic after all).
