10 fresh new makeup buys to try this summer

This skin tint perfectly nails the 'your-skin-but-better' brief.  It doesn't impart extra radiance, neither does it mattify or provide heavy coverage, but somehow it cancels out any redness, blurs blemishes and leaves it looking naturally fresh and healthy. The lightweight formula sinks in quickly and wears comfortably under a face covering. Bonus points for the extensive shade range too. 

Add some warmth to your complexion with this peachy-orange hue. The saturated colour works beautifully across all skin tones but the magic lies in its texture. An ultra-fine powder, it has impressive staying power yet blends in as seamlessly as a cream and can easily be applied with fingers. Lovely as a wash across the eyelids too. 

A touch of gleam patted gently on cheekbones will help lift and illuminate the complexion. These highlighter sticks pack just the right amount of shimmer to impart a sophisticated glow.  

Colourful liners, such as this no-tug, gel formula by Revolution, are an easy way to dress up the eyes. Rich, gemstone shades of sapphire, emerald and amethyst are striking yet wearable enough for daytime. Draw along the upper lash and soften with a brush or add a small kitten flick. Anchor with a hint of mascara and groomed brows. 

Iconic London's Sheer Blush was a hit with the Good Housekeeping beauty team and the new Sheer Bronze is just as wonderful. As per the name, this buildable formula blends into a sheer, sunkissed finish. The gel-like consistency makes it easy to control too, so you never risk looking muddy or orange. 

A luminous blush is helpful for simultaneously adding colour and radiance, but it's a tricky formula to nail as some shimmers can veer to the overly sparkly. This one by Suqqu is packed with plant oils to nourish dry complexions while the refined shine leaves skin with an ethereal glow. 

With face coverings still in our foreseeable future, there's no better time to get into bright, balmy textures. They create a similar face-brightening effect as a full-on lipstick, but require far less precision to apply when the mask comes off and are less likely to have smudged everywhere either. Try Rouge Awakening (pictured) for a pretty, popsicle stain. 

Pink eyeshadow? Why not! This one by Stila has enough warmth to flatter various undertones while the metallic finish is especially stunning when it catches the sun. Just scribble onto eyelids and blend out with your ring finger. One and done!

The ultra-fine texture of Dior's Powder-No-Powder takes away extra shine yet feels invisible on skin. All skin types will be pleased: this doesn't accentuate dry textures and the gel base feels fresh on oilier complexions.
