The Bezos-Sanchez wedding has been the most unashamedly opulent, all-encompassing affair, taking over the Venetian waterways and flooding the showbiz news agenda for days. Now it’s all over, bar the honeymoon, we’re taking a moment to stop, breathe, and take in our favourite flashy detail – a surprising, yet utterly on-brand embellishment worn by the bride.
Lauren Sanchez flew her trusty glam squad out to Italy to the star-stuffed nuptials, including makeup artist Laura Mele, and hair stylist Rick Henry. Her first-choice nail artist, Iram Shelton, was a source of intrigue though, after a luckless organiser in Venice held a clipboard of attendees the wrong way round, apparently listing Iram a no-show.
The full story remains a mystery but uber-manicurist Iram was most definitely all present and correct for the big day – and let us be thankful for that. Not only did Iram provide the bride-to-be with an exquisite manicure to show off her ring, she went on to create one of the best, ‘sorry, they did what?’ details of the entire extravaganza. (Possibly even better than the revelation that the wedding goodie bag reportedly included a pair of Amazon sliders.)
For context, Mr and Mrs Bezos are a couple that loves a bit of bling. Amazon squillionaire Jeff originally proposed to Lauren with a pink diamond ring so huge that even she was shocked: ‘When he opened the box, I think I blacked out a bit,’ she has said. Definitely not one you’d find on Amazon Prime next-day delivery.
That enormous rock, though, turned out to be just a starter ring, eclipsed by a second, even bigger ring presented to the bride-to-be in Venice. It’s worth a reported $3-5million, and jewellers have also estimated it to be in the region of 30 carats. In layman’s terms, there are probably galactic rocks of a similar size being charted by Jeff’s space programme.
Faced with such a whopper, Iram took the only two possible options. For the wedding itself, she went with a simple, timeless French manicure which allowed the ring to be the shining star. Or rather, rings plural. The original pink rock wasn’t jettisoned entirely but simply demoted to a secondary role on Lauren’s right hand. Of course.
Iram shared the mani details on her Instagram, posting: ‘A closer look at @laurensanchezbezos wedding nails done by @iramshelton. A soft milky French manicure with a delicate tip.’
All very classic and classy. But as with all good weddings, things went a bit wild for the afterparty – and in the case of Mrs Bezos’ nails, the day-after re-spin couldn’t have been more apt for such a flashy event.
For the final day of celebrations, Iram had added a piercing to Lauren’s nails, with a diamond-encrusted B dangling from the tip of the nail on her wedding finger.
‘B for Bezos,’ Iram posted, for avoidance of doubt. ‘@laurensanchezbezos Thank you for trusting me & my vision for your wedding nails. Lots of love 🤍 (We pierced the nail as a final touch for the last day of celebrations - nothing like diamonds at your fingertips 💎)’
And who could argue with that? Here's to the happy ever after.
