It’s that time of year again. The great and good of British society are flocking to Royal Ascot for five days of horse racing and, of course, an excuse to dress to the nines. And while we woke up to our feed flooded with fabulous beauty looks, it was Penny Lancaster who caught our eye, who was looking particularly blush-tastic.
The model and TV presenter looked radiant as she enjoyed a few drinks in the glorious British sunshine. Amid the crowd of fascinators, Penny’s pretty pink glow quickly stole our attention and had us zooming in to take a closer look at her makeup.
The star of the show was the beautiful, bright-pink blusher that was swept across the apples of her cheeks, giving her a natural, sun-warmed glow.
As you might recall, 'sunburnt blush' was a huge social media trend last summer, with celebrities and influencers sweeping pinky-bronze tones across cheeks and bridges of noses to fake a sun-warmed complexion.
In the current weather, it’s also a look that’s all-too easily created by accident by skimping on SPF protection (not ideal!). However, Penny’s Ascot beauty has given us a masterclass in how to achieve that same sun-flushed glow – this time, with intention.
Penny complemented her pretty flush with a dusting of pearlescent pink eyeshadow across her eyelids and a sweep of black eyeliner to make her eyes pop. A touch of highlighter gave her a glowing complexion, catching the light beautifully in the sunshine. The look was finished off with a swipe of a mauve-pink gloss.
Penny’s pretty-in-pink theme didn’t stop at the blusher. Her makeup was perfectly coordinated with her hot pink Annabeth Fenley fascinator – an Ascot essential. She tied the look together with a vintage floral dress from Dolce & Gabbana and a £1,100 Loewe bumble-bee bag for a touch of playfulness and whimsy to her overall look.
She was accompanied by her 19-year-old son Alastair, who was equally dressed up for the occasion in full top hat and tails.
Of course, Penny wasn’t the only one bringing her A-game to this year’s Ascot. Penny’s fellow TV presenter Charlotte Hawkins was also spotted embracing the pink palette with a full-monochrome bright pink ensemble.
And of course, the races were attended by royalty, too. The line up included GH office favourite, Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, who looked gorgeous in pretty pastel ice-cream tones. Her sheer floral-white dress was quite a departure from her usual royal dress code and we thoroughly approve.
Also making an appearance in the royal enclosure was Zara Tindall, who looked stunning in a pale-blue dress paired with a copper-toned eyeshadow, both of which made her blue eyes pop.
We’ll be keeping a close watch on all this year’s best Royal Ascot beauty looks over the next few days, but if we had to crown a queen of blush, our vote would have to go to Penny!
