Trinny Woodall is known for making portable, commuter-friendly makeup, but she’s taken it one step further with her latest launch. The Trinny London founder has just unveiled her new makeup multitasker – the 3-in-1 Trinity stick – and she showcased its speedy skills in a 60-second makeover as her plane prepared to land in Manhattan.
Fittingly, she was using the version of Trinity called New York, featuring a dewy, rose gold gloss and a complementary matte brown shade. The colourway is ‘inspired by brownstone buildings, power suits and Fifth Avenue’.
It’s one of three Trinity sticks inspired by destinations that Trinny says have shaped her life, with Venice and Mustique making up her air miles favourites. Each one has a matte end and a gloss end, and as Trinny shows in her high-flying Instagram clip, the shades can be used to whip up a complete makeup look – lip, cheeks and eyes, all in one product.
The whole thing gets done in a New York minute and, as a glowy Trinny puts it, ‘It gives me that look of feeling well.’
We’ve broken down Trinny’s tutorial so you can recreate it at home (or on the go) in just four quick and easy steps…
Trinny kicks off with the matte brownstone shade, starting by sweeping it along her cheekbones, following the natural curve and then quickly swiping the product lightly across her forehead.
Initially, it does look a little odd when Trinny scrawls three lines on her forehead, but thankfully, the creamy formula blends like a dream and just leaves behind a healthy-looking, erm, forehead. (Yes, there is such a thing in Trinny world.)
‘Then I rub in my forehead with my finger – it gives me that look of feeling well,’ Trinny explains as she melts the product into her skin, creating a sun-kissed look.
Blending the product along her cheekbones with her fingertips, she adds, ‘I go up, because I want to make it “contour meets blusher”’, creating an instant lifting and defining effect.’
If contour isn’t for you, Trinny shares an alternative placement trick for achieving a natural flush of colour instead: ‘Just have it a little bit higher up, so you can see it when you’re looking forward.’ She blends it out with a soft, fluffy brush, focusing on the apples of her cheeks to create a softer look (although we think a fingertip blend works just fine, too, based on the preview sample we’ve been sent).
To finish the look, Trinny simply flips the stick to the glossy champagne-rose side, dabbing it on the middle of her lips and on her cheekbones. ‘We can get that nice, glossy look… and just tap,’ she says. ‘So easy, fresh and just fabulous.’
It’s as easy as that – a complete, glowy makeup look achieved in just a minute with one handy stick. The clip has already garnered more than 160,000 views and hundreds of comments from fans awaiting their own Trinity sticks.
Now we just need to wait to find out where the next demo will be. Perhaps on a gondola on the Grand Canal or a speedboat in the Caribbean?
