Ever since she chopped her locks into a pixie in a surprising transformation back in January, Emma Stone has become the ultimate source of short hair inspiration. From her sleek crop to her soft 1920s waves, she’s proved that a pixie cut is anything but limiting.
Last night, Emma lit up the red carpet at the premiere of her upcoming film, Eddington, in which she stars alongside Joaquin Phoenix and Pedro Pascal. While buzz for the movie is at an all-time high, it was Emma’s latest take on the pixie cut that truly stole the show.
It’s ruffled, romantic, feminine and effortless – or, as her hair stylist and founder of Roz Hair, Mara Roszak, described it, whimsical. Emma’s pixie has grown out just enough to play with soft, feathered layers, tousled to perfection. The front pieces fell on to her face, just sweeping across her brows, framing her face beautifully.
In a video shared to Instagram, Emma gracefully turns her head, showcasing the pixie in motion. Mara captioned the post: ‘EMMA with her Whymsy Pixie styled with @rozhair Evergreen & Air for defined texture.’
And on Mara’s Instagram story, she broke down the look further into four simple steps: ‘Load damp hair with @rozhair. Air scrunch, twist, diffuse! Once dry, piece with Evergreen.’
The rest of Emma’s beauty look perfectly echoed the effortless elegance of her hairstyle, thanks to a natural glam look masterfully applied by celebrity MUA Nina Park. Emma’s base makeup was kept glowy and light, allowing her natural freckles to shine through.
There was no trace of fake tan; instead, a dusting of a rosy blush on the apples of her cheeks added warmth to her face. Her eyes were softly defined with a subtle sweep of eyeliner, letting her long lashes take centre stage. And, finally, her lips were lined with an equally rosy, warm liner and a slightly lighter shade of lipstick to create a plumped effect.
The effortless glamour didn’t stop there: her manicurist, Emi Kudo, deserves a moment of praise, too. For the finishing touch, Emma’s short nails were kept natural but perfectly polished. Emi shared on Instagram: ‘We went for bare natural from our favourite milky white for using just one coat of @opi’s iconic colour “Put in neutral”, and gelevate builder gel in “Blank Canvas”. (There’s the next salon visit sorted!)
With each red carpet look, Emma continues to prove that short hair can be every bit as versatile and feminine as long locks. Here at GH, we can’t wait to see what she surprises us with next.
